Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Second Cut ("Second Cut", "we", "us") collects when you use the Second Cut app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Second Cut is a golf shot-tracing app: you give us a short swing video and we return it with the ball flight traced.

1. Information we collect

Swing videos and photos you give us

When you record or import a swing clip and ask us to trace it, that video (and any frames or images derived from it) is the core content we process. You choose each clip you submit; we don't access your camera roll in the background or capture anything you don't select. Camera and photo-library access is requested only at the moment you use it, and you can decline.

Round and scoring data

If you use Live Round or Scorecards, the scores, hole and course selections, and round graphics you create are stored so you can keep and re-use them. Much of this stays on your device.

Location — optional

If you choose to use course-aware features, we may use your device location to find nearby courses or holes. Location is used only when you enable those features, and you can turn it off in your device settings at any time.

Diagnostics and usage

To keep the app stable we collect privacy-safe diagnostics such as crash reports, performance metrics, and basic, non-identifying usage of features (for example, that a trace was requested and whether it succeeded). These diagnostics do not include your video content. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

Account information (if you create one)

If we offer sign-in and you choose to create an account (for example, with Sign in with Apple), we receive the identifier and, if you allow it, name and email you provide. You can use core capture on-device without content leaving your phone until you submit a clip for tracing.

2. How we use your information

• To trace your shots — detecting the ball, club and impact, reconstructing the flight, and returning the overlaid result.
• To provide app features you use, such as Swing Compare, Scorecards, Sound Lab, Live Round and the course catalog.
• To keep the service reliable, secure, and fast, and to fix bugs and improve accuracy.
• To respond to you when you contact support.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your swing videos to serve you ads.

3. How your video is processed and how long we keep it

Tracing runs on our servers and on cloud compute we operate for that purpose. When you submit a clip:

• It is uploaded over an encrypted connection and queued for processing.
• Once processing completes, the traced result is delivered back to your device.
• Uploaded source clips and intermediate files are automatically removed from our processing systems on a routine retention schedule after your job finishes; they are not kept indefinitely.
• The traced clips you keep live in the app's private storage on your device, under your control — delete them in the app, or remove the app, at any time.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf so the app can work — for example cloud hosting and GPU compute providers that run the tracing pipeline, and, if you create an account or buy a subscription, the identity and payment providers involved (subscriptions, if offered, are handled by Apple through the App Store; we don't receive your full payment details). These providers act under agreements that limit them to providing their service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.

5. Security

We use encryption in transit and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to keep only what we need for as long as we need it.

6. Your choices and rights

• Permissions: camera, photo library and location are all optional and controlled in your device settings.
• Delete your clips: remove traced clips in the app, or delete the app to remove local content.
• Access or deletion: to request access to, or deletion of, data associated with you, email privacy@secondcut.co and we'll act on your request as required by applicable law.

7. Children

Second Cut is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. International users

We operate the service from, and process data on servers located in, jurisdictions that may differ from yours. By using Second Cut you understand your information may be processed in those locations, with protections consistent with this policy.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
